What is Tarbiya Academic Scholars Institute?
Tarbiya Academic Scholars Institute (TASI) is a full K–8 learning institute that operates using a micro school model, offering an Islamic alternative to traditional school for homeschooling families. Guided by our Akhira-First Academics philosophy, we combine rigorous academics with Islamic values in a nurturing, in-person learning environment. Through our selected WASC-accredited curriculum for grades K-2 and our partnership with Cognia-accredited, Bayaan Academy for grades 3rd-8th, we provide students with a high-quality education alongside Islamic values that prepares them for success in both this life and the Hereafter.
What is a micro school?
A micro school is a small, independent educational program, usually with small class sizes (often 5–15), that blends elements of traditional schooling, homeschooling, and sometimes online learning. Microschools often focus on personalized instruction, flexible pacing, and community-oriented learning, allowing students to progress at their own level while benefiting from social interaction and structured guidance. They can operate in a variety of settings, including private homes, dedicated learning spaces, community centers, religious spaces, or leased facilities. In short, a microschool is like a small, highly personalized educational path that combines academic rigor with community and social engagement, often bridging the gap between homeschooling and traditional schools.
Who is TASI for?
Our program is designed for:
- Families currently homeschooling or planning to transition
- Students in Grades K–8 (must be at least 5 years old by enrollment)
- Parents seeking a classroom-based learning experience without enrolling in public or private school
- Families who care deeply about instilling Islamic values into their children
Does TASI fully replace school?
Yes! TASI is designed to serve as your child’s primary educational experience. Students follow a full K-8 curriculum, including core academics, hands-on projects, and Islamic studies, all taught in a supportive, faith-centered environment. The chosen curriculums meet Nevada and regional academic standards, and we ensure families have the guidance and documentation needed. With structured, in-person learning four days a week and guidance every step of the way, your child gets everything they need to thrive academically and spiritually—fully replacing a traditional school experience with an Akhira-first academics approach.

Is TASI in-person or online?
TASI is a fully in-person learning program. Students attend classes on site at Masjid Al-Noor, Monday through Thursday, where they learn alongside their peers in a structured classroom environment.
Little Scholars (K–2) students use our selected WASC-accredited curriculum, while Primary & Pre-Prep (3rd-8th) students receive live instruction by qualified teachers through our partnership with Bayaan Academy, accredited by Cognia and Middle States Association (MSA) of Colleges and Schools. In both programs, students are supported throughout the day by Tarbiya Instructors who provide guidance, supervision, and individualized academic support.
Learning is reinforced through workbooks, projects, collaborative activities, and hands-on experiences. While occasional homework may be assigned, there is no daily requirement for students to complete online instruction at home.
Are you a private school?
No, TASI is a nonprofit organization that functions as a micro school program and a full K-8 educational alternative that operates within Nevada homeschool guidelines. While we provide a structured, faith-centered learning environment with core academics and Islamic studies, we are not classified as a traditional private school.

What is TASI's partnership with Bayaan Academy?
Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, TASI is partnering with Bayaan Academy, a globally recognized online academic Islamic school serving students around the world through live, teacher-led instruction. Bayaan Academy provides faith-centered academics taught by highly qualified Muslim educators using an engaging, project-based approach that integrates academic excellence with Islamic values.
Students in grades 3–8 attend Bayaan Academy's live classes from TASI's in-person classrooms at Masjid Al-Noor, where they are supported by Tarbiya Instructors who provide supervision, academic guidance, classroom management, and enrichment throughout the school day. Together, this partnership combines Bayaan Academy's high-quality live instruction with the structure, community, and Islamic environment that families value at TASI.
How are classrooms structured?
Classrooms are intentionally kept small to provide individualized support and meaningful instructor-student interaction. Students are typically grouped by developmental stage into Little Scholars (K–2), Primary (Grades 3–5), and Pre-Preparatory (Grades 6–8). However, classroom groupings may vary from year to year based on enrollment to ensure the best learning experience for every student.
Our low student-to-staff ratios allow Tarbiya Instructors to provide personalized guidance, supervision, and academic support throughout the school day. As our program continues to grow, we hope to offer separate classrooms for older boys and girls, in shā' Allāh.
What is the parent’s role?
In Nevada, parents who register their child as a homeschooler are the legal educators. In a micro school setting, parents file the required Notice of Intent with the school district, choose the curriculum and teaching methods, oversee academic progress, and maintain records of their child’s learning to document achievement and growth. TASI provides structured support and classroom guidance, giving homeschool families the resources, space, and tools to direct their child’s learning, maintain academic records, and help students thrive in both academics and tarbiya.
Do parents need to teach at home?
No, unless they choose to! All core instruction takes place in our classrooms, supervised by our trained Tarbiya Instructors, Coaches, and volunteers. Parents remain responsible for legal compliance (filing the NOI), overseeing their child’s progress, and supporting good habits at home. Like in traditional school, homework may be assigned for reinforcement, but parents are not required to teach the curriculum themselves.
Can I enroll my child for the Qur'an/Islamic Studies only?
At this time, TASI does not offer Qur’an or Islamic Studies as standalone courses. Our program operates as a full micro school that serves as a child’s primary education, with Qur’an and Islamic learning integrated into the academic day rather than offered as an after-school or enrichment option. Families seeking supplemental or weekend Qur’an and Islamic Studies classes may wish to explore programs offered by local masajid throughout the city.
How much does it cost?
Our pricing is structured to support families with clear and flexible options. For the 2026-2027 academic year, our limited-time, introductory pricing is $295 per month, billed over 11 months.
Can my child transition to public or private school later?
Yes. Using a WASC‑accredited curriculum (K-2) and a MSA-CESS-accredited curriculum (3-8) helps ensure a smooth transition if your child moves to public or private school, since these accreditations are recognized as approved curriculums for homeschooling in Nevada and aligns with state and regional standards. Families are responsible for submitting homeschool records to the new school for enrollment, and placement or credit will be determined by the receiving school.
Why only 4 days a week?
TASI runs 4 days a week to maximize focused, high-quality instruction while honoring family and spiritual life:
- Friday is a blessed day in Islam, and we give families space to observe it fully
- 4 days allows for focused, small-group instruction with minimal distractions
- Leaves space for family and life outside the classroom
Focused instruction in smaller groups ensures students learn more effectively in less time than typical classroom schedules.
